As you can see it is quite a mixed bag – I’d love to hear more input on what works and doesn’t work.
Great script! I have D40 and Vista Home Premium. Downloads both jpg and nef files but doesn’t produce the ‘preview’. Doesn’t do downloads if camera set to ‘P’ but does in ‘M’! Haven’t yet tried ‘A’ or ‘S’. You star!!!
Takes pictures with the D90
You should add Win7 column 😉
I have a D70S, Win7Ultimate 32bits, Compaq nc6000 notebook.
* My D70S is recognized
* I can shoot jpg (RAW takes jpg),
* I can’t change S mode from the progam (even with the camera in M, A, P…). I have to change it from the camera, disconnect the camera, reconect the camera, restart the program and then I can use it in the other mode.
* I can’t use full FPS. The fastest I can use it is about 6 photos every 10 seconds (without transfering them to the PC, of course). D70S can take 3fps with the right settings. This was what I was looking for in a program like this because Nikon’s Capture Pro can’t work without transfering the photos to the PC, rendering the program very slow.
* Bracketing seems to work.
Works great on my D70s. Thanks!
Works with a D700 on Windows 7 64-bit, except for file type switching. Bracketing only adjusts the EV so it doesn’t work in Manual mode, but that’s probably what it’s meant to do.
Works with the D5000 in windows vista only in manual mode M
Just fine for me
Thanks
@frank, thanks for the update. Hope to see some new shots of your great glass work art soon! 😉
@Wayne, yes that is what it is meant to do in 4.1; I’ll fix this in 5.0.
Anybody tried it with the D300s?
I have a D80 with Win7 64-bit and it detects the D80 I can set all parameters even remote release but the pictures don’t show up anywhere.
Please help!!!
hi, just to add to the chart, D100 didn’t seem to work, and D1 (yes, there are still D1s around) doesn’t either. XP can detect the D1, shows up in hardware device manager, but opens nikon picture-project with it. After uninstalling that program, photobits still doesn’t detect the camera no matter camera on first or program opened up first. Dunno if i’m the only one. Thanks for the programme though.
Camera controls work with Nikon D3000.
No preview. Running vista.
D300s seems to work well. Haven’t done extensive testing. camera detected, image transferred after on-camera shutter, image transferred after software button shutter, all control functions changed okay. after testing all control function changes, image would no longer transfer. software restarted and normal operation continued.
I just tested 5.2 on my Vista Home Premium laptop with my Nikon D40. Seems to work just as expected with RAW files. I did need to select my camera twice to get tethering to function.
5.2 + D3000 on Windows 7 with Bridge CS4, and everything works. Bless you man, I love this. Screw the Nikon app.
5.2 D80 Win7 64bit still not working 🙁
Sorry forgot to mention, the above Win 7 with the 5.2/D3000/Bridge CS4 is a 32-bit Home Premium.
Adriano, I think it most probably is a question of yours being a 64-bit. If there is a D80 out there working properly with a 32-bit 7, then that should confirm it. Haven’t heard of one, though. Hope you get yours going eventually, this is truly a nice, nice app.
I’m really out of my depth with the 64bit thing – the documentation says that WIAAUT is *not* supported under 64bit, but some people say it DOES work for them. So no idea where to go with that one.
5.2, D3000, Win7, 64bit, works fine.
Camera has to be turned on, before 5.2 starts.
thank you for the App.
Raymond – works ok with D200 on Win7 Ultimate 64bit. Captures to screen ad disk; and then need to import into LR3B2.
I simply wanted to see if it worked. No images, yet that is ok for now. I will test the other functionality and let you know.
Will the script work on the Pentax ist dl ?
Great work Raymond! D60 on windows 7 32-bit is recognized, things seem OK but can’t get bracketing to work (makes n+1 pictures, but no change in EV). I’ll keep trying while saving up for a more expensive camera 🙂
Deon, I don’t know. Why not try it and let us know?
DrDre, glad it is working somewhat but puzzled no EV changes. Are you trying whole or partial stops? What mode?
D80 works on winxp and win7 32bits ultimate.
shutter release works.
Work Great !
Nikon D90
WinXP SP3
Tested basic functionality. Works and loving it!!! Thanks!
Camera: D5000
OS: Windows 7 -64bit
Hi! This works great. Thanks!
Camera: Nikon D40
OS: Windows 7 Professional x86
P,M,A,S & Auto works, but you have to manually select them. Both JPEG & RAW works. Other functions also works fine, although the aperture settings are not fully maximized. Still, good work!
Nikon D80 – windows 7 ultimate 32 bits…
It works if you have the memory card into the camera. Without it the program does not run.But recorded images in memory, not on the pc.
Congratulations and thnaks.
This would appear to be exactly what i need ….. for my Canon 50D !!! looks like you have a great bit of software but does anyone know of a canon equivilent ?
Thanks.
Just downloaded 5.2 and installed it. Connected my D50 and I can release the shutter by pushing the “Shutter Release” button. But then…….nothing happens…..there’s no preview on my computer-screen. Can anybody help me?
By the way, I have Windows7 installed on my computer.
Works beautifully with a D200 and D700 running on XP. Excellent programme. Thank you for all the work that must have gone into this.
Hi! i had a D90 and the program advices that it might not work, but it did perfectly.
Thanks
Works great with D3000 on windows 7 but as people have said before I would love control of bulb mode for astrophtography.
I’ve got a new Nikon D90 and windows Vista, and I’m having problems with the preview image appearing. Have you got any suggestions on this matter? I have got the windows 7 upgrade that I haven’t installed yet, do you think that would help?
Thanks
Sorry for my message, I’ve got it working.
Thanks.
Note: If there could be a way of auto focusing, that would make it incredible. But either way cool little program.Congrats
Sam,
What made it work, got a D90 and the same issue on my netbook, no preview image appearing.
Thanks
Rob
I have a D700 and XP. I have a problem with the preview image appearing. Can some one help?
I have a D700 that seems to be working perfectly with the camera control aspect, but I am getting no image transfered to my designated folder. I’m shooting raw (nef). I’m running Vista Home Premium SP2. Any ideas?
The camera control part works fine. But there is not image preview or transfer to my designated folder. Again it’s a D700 on Windows XP Pro.
Ok, thanks to a windows update my problem is solved. Looks like the D700 will works great with Vista 64bit Home Premium SP2. Also, I have just confirmed that the D700 is working with my Windows XP Home as well.
Great piece of software – thanks!!!
I have a D80 and am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Shutter release/time lapse is working, but (like the others), I’m not seeing an image preview nor are the images being transferred to my destination folder.
Same camera/cable and everything works under XP pro SP3, so it just looks like it’s having issues on windows 7. All testing was done with version 5.2
Tried my D50 in ver 5.2 with some success. I have Win 7 Pro 64 bit. Only tested basic functions. Transferred .jpg files and displayed preview fine. Worked when shutter release pressed on camers and remote click button in program. Could not get RAW files to transfer regardless of settings in program or camera. Did not try exposure settings or time lapse. Very nice program. Thanks.
D300 works beautifully with the 5.2. Hey thankyou very much for a great free program that works.
oops forget to mention files are getting downloaded to my destination folder.
D200 and Windows 7 (32 bit) on an Asus EEE 901 fired the camera and recorded the image on the memory card, but nothing on the pc screen and nothing on the pc disk.
Has anyone used this with a Fuji S5 pro. Would like to shoot tethered for a Firedept fundraiser.
D60, Windows 7 x64 Pro
in “A” EV Comp seems to only work in positive values.
bracketing does not work.
This is an awesome script. I downloaded Lightroom 3 to try the tethering and it didn’t work with my D50. Photobits allows me to tether my D50 with Windows 7 on my desktop and Vista on my laptop.
Thanks so much.
Works with D2H, XP SP3.
Thank you very much for this script.
